A simple framework for balancing cured meats, cheese, acidity, sweetness and crunch.
Build around five elements
Choose two or three cured meats, two cheeses, something acidic, something fresh and a crisp base. Repeating a few colours and shapes makes the board feel composed rather than crowded.
Place large items first
Begin with bowls and larger wedges of cheese. Fold or loosely roll sliced meats, then use fruit, nuts and crackers to connect the arrangement. Keep wet foods in small dishes.
Serve it safely
Put out only the chilled food likely to be eaten and replenish when needed. Use separate utensils, flag allergens and avoid leaving perishable food at room temperature for extended periods.
This is practical buying guidance, not a claim of hands-on product testing.
