Choose the right size, shape and material for a serving board that looks considered and works at the table.
Size it for the table
A long board works well as a centrepiece, while several smaller boards make food easier to reach. Leave some open space between ingredients so the arrangement remains inviting and clear.
Choose the surface carefully
Wood brings warmth and texture. Stone and slate can look striking, but they are hard on knives. Keep oils, pickles and wet accompaniments in small bowls to protect the surface.
Think beyond appearance
Choose a board you can lift safely and clean according to the maker’s instructions. A beautiful serving board is not automatically a good chopping board; the two jobs place different demands on a surface.
