The Danish Livestock and Meat
Board
- a strong trade organisation
The Danish Livestock and Meat Board is the trade
association of the Danish beef and veal sectors.
The Danish Livestock and Meat Board was formed in 1972
with the express purpose of establishing an effective and independent mouthpiece
for the beef and veal sectors - also in the EU which Denmark joined the same
year.
The Meat Board is domiciled in Copenhagen.
Our membership counts cattle slaughterhouses and
companies, processing plants and commercial undertakings within the beef and
veal sectors.
The activities of the Meat Board are financed by membership
fees, user fees and funds.
The main objectives of our association are:
- to handle the interests of the Danish cattle and beef sectors in
general in negotiations with public authorities and other institutions in
Denmark and abroad;
- to help promote earnings growth through the various stages of the beef
industry, i.e. production, processing and sales promotion;
- to encourage the collaboration among the various members of the
association;
- to solve or assist in matters of common interest within the cattle and
beef sectors.
The association engages in policymaking in areas like:-
- Production and market policy
- Slaughtering/processing and industrial policy
- Export and commercial policy
- Home market and consumer information
As a trade association, the Meat Board performs many individual
tasks on behalf of the members. Add to this a variety
of overall matters such as recording of slaughter and trade data,
forecasts, research and development related to slaughtering and processing,
labelling, marketing, food safety, traceability, and veterinary and hygiene
documentation.
